The smaller in-city school evened up the score for the older cousin Monday night.

Class 4A Pine Tree knocked off 5A Longview 20-19 at the Lobos 7-on-7 league, a win that secured a series split for Pirates quarterback Caleb Chumley and his younger cousin, Longview quarterback Dezmond Chumley.

The Lobos won the first meeting 25-0 by shutting down Caleb Chumley and the Pirates offense two weeks ago. But the 6-foot-5 senior was impressive in leading his team to the win over his cousin and the home team in the second meeting at Lobo Stadium.

“I might have to give (Dezmond) a hard time since he beat me last time,” Caleb Chumley said. “It’s kind of good for us because everybody thinks just because we’re Pine Tree, we ain’t nothing. We just proved that we are.”
