Lufkin grad, former UH OL cut from Redskins
Tyler, Texas (FOX51) — Lufkin native, Jacolby Ashworth, has been cut by the Washington Redskins, the team announced Tuesday.
The 6'3", 300-pound guard, was released by the Redskins due to the NFL deadline for teams to secure their rosters with 75 players.
Ashworth, who played left tackle during his first three years at The University of Houston before moving to guard his senior year, was not expected to make a big offensive impact for Washington this year, despite being a hard, dedicated worker.
Ashworth was named First-Team All-Conference offensive lineman in 2013 and racked up second-team honors in 2011, having played in 40 games over his five seasons at Houston.
