Former ETX football coach stripped of AD title at north TX area high school

According to Dallas media reports, a former Canton Eagles football coach, Baylor assistant and father of star quarterback, G.J. Kinne, has been stripped of his title as Athletic Director at Sherman High School.

Reports state Gary Kinne was relieved of AD duties after being suspended by the University Scholastic League for participating in 7-on-7 football, which is a violation of the UIL bylaws.

Kinne, who's in his fifth year at Sherman, was a standout middle linebacker at Baylor University from 1986 through 1989. Since then, he has become a highly successful high school football coach in the Lone Star state before returning to the collegiate sidelines as lthe Baylor linebackers coach in January 2006.

Kinne signed a free-agent contract with the NFL's Philadelphia Eagles and was drafted by the World Football League's Orlando Thunder in 1989.

The positions Kinne has held are as follows:

  • 1991: Kaufman (Texas) High School - Assistant
  • 1992-93: Kaufman (Texas) High School - Defensive Coordinator
  • 1996: Allen (Texas) High School - Assistant
  • 1997-01: Mesquite (Texas) High School - Assistant
  • 2002: Mesquite (Texas) High School - Defensive Coordinator
  • 2003-05: Canton (Texas) High School, Head Coach/Athletic Director
  • 2006-07: Baylor University - Linebackers

he is a great honest man. he went on the field to take his 12 year old son to have his picture made with Tim Tebow. he had nothing to do with the game . his older son GJ Kinne was there also . that's why he went to the game. . I hope he fights this I hope he appeals. I know he would come out with the judgement of no harm done . no rules broken . God bless Gary Joe and his family. God protect Gary Joe from the people. that made this accusation , God restore Gary Joes honor .
