White Oak (Fox 51) — Students, parents and longtime fans lined the halls of White Oak High School early Thursday morning to cheer on the Roughneck basketball team as members boarded buses for Austin to compete in their second straight state tournament.

As he waited for the drumline to pass through the crowd, signaling the start of the players’ procession, Superintendent Mike Gilbert said it was a very special place and time for the school.
