Angelina County sheriff candidate disqualified

Wednesday, June 6, 2012 - 2:37pm

The Angelina County Democratic party disqualified two candidates from the general election. This means Republican candidate Greg Sanches is the new sheriff-elect of Angelina County.

Democratic candidate for sheriff Jim Hodges was disqualified because he voted in the Republican primary.

Texas laws do not allow candidates in one party to vote in another party's election that year.

Hodges was unopposed in the Democratic primary.

A candidate for Precinct 3 Constable, William Wade, was also disqualified for voting in the Republican primary.
