Would-be ETX burglars busted in the act
Lufkin, TX — Three alleged burglars are in the Angelina County Jail after they were caught in the act Monday afternoon.
At 3:43 p.m., Lufkin officers were first alerted to the situation when they received a call reporting a burglary in-progress at a local business on the 200 block of Whitehouse Drive. The caller told officials they had a caught a man and woman, driving a tan SUV, trying to steal a utility trailer from the location, but ran when they were approached.
A responding policeman found the suspected vehicle in the 500 block of North Timberland drive and arrested three people inside.
Johnny Lewis, 50, and Cheryl A. Brown, 43, both of Lufkin, were arrested and charged with theft of property. Brown also had an outstanding warrant. Lewis bail is set at $100,000 and Brown at $500.
Marcia L Childs, 50, of Lufkin is charged with four outstanding warrants and possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bond is set at $11,000.
