Tuesday, February 12, 2013 - 5:50pm

The City of Tyler Parks and Recreation Department is helping women avoid becoming victims with this special self-defense clinic from 11 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16.

Class will be held at the Glass Recreation Center located at 501 W. 32nd St. The cost is $25 per student.

This clinic, for women 14 and older, will teach participants tips and techniques to help defend themselves in dangerous situations. Instructor Alex Jones, who holds a fourth degree black belt in GoJu-Ryu Karate, will teach students how to think on their feet, avoid threatening situations and respond properly to dangers.

“This clinic helps make women more street savvy in an unpredictable world,” says Ann Santana supervisor of the Glass Recreation Center. “If you can recognize and respond to dangerous situations you will be more confident and prepared in your day to day activities.”
