SMITH COUNTY — A woman ran off the road and into trees on Hwy. 64, just after 8:00 a.m. on Monday.

The woman was heading toward Chapel Hill, near the Lake Tyler bridge on Hwy. 64.

Witnesses tell Fox 51, the car passed them at an extreme rate of speed, then the car ran off the road and flipped sideways into some trees.

Witnesses and officials say the driver worked as a security guard at ETMC in Henderson, and was driving back from an all-night shift. Officials believe that she fell asleep at the wheel.

She was taken at a local hospital, and is reportedly in stable condition.
