A Weslaco mother is behind bars after she allegedly put her 2-year-old son's hand on a hot stove.
Claudia Ponce of the Weslaco area faced in Hidalgo County judge Friday morning, she is being charged for intentionally or knowingly causing serious bodily injury to her 2-year-old son.
Authorities say she placed her child's hands over a hot burning stove.

Deputies say she called authorities for help claiming her two year old son was burned by grabbing a hot pot of soup. However, when deputies arrived they observed severe burns on the two-year-old. They requested EMS transportation to Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco.
Later the two-year-old was flown to Shriner Burn Center in Galveston.
Ponce was arraigned in court Friday, here bond was set at $500,000.
