VIDEO: Thieves steal trash cans full of cigarettes from Lufkin store

Monday, August 12, 2013 - 11:30am

Lufkin authorities need the public's help to identify the people responsible for the burglary of a convenience store located in the 100 block of Champions Drive in Lufkin.

Security cameras show that the two thieves arrived at the store in a black, 2010 to 2012 year model Dodge Charger. In the surveillance video, they appear to be black males but they were wearing long sleeve clothing, gloves, and ski masks.

The thieves used a sledge hammer to force entry into the store through the front glass door and, once inside, they filled trashcans with packs of cigarettes.

It took them a little more than three minutes to enter the store, steal the merchandise, and leave the area but law enforcement hopes that the video of their crime will help identify them.

The short time they spent in the store and the equipment they brought along, such as the protective clothing, trashcans, and breaching tool, suggests that this was not their first convenience store burglary. If that assumption is correct, someone reading this information or watching the video knows the suspects, knows about their crimes, and can lead law enforcement to them.

If you can identify either of these suspects, or if you can provide information concerning this or similar crimes, call Crime Stoppers of Lufkin at (936) 639-TIPS or click here to submit an anonymous tip. You never have to give your name and Crime Stoppers may pay a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest related to this crime.
