A gay man in Georgia will be allowed to order a vanity license plate displaying his sexual orientation.

Cyrus Gilbert sued the state after officials denied his three requests for personal tags: "4gaylib," "gayguy," and "gay power."

He discovered all three were on the state's banned list.

Gilbert said the rules violated his first amendment right to free speech.

In settling the suit, the state redefined how it approves vanity plates and will allow Gilbert his choice.

Gilbert has decided to get a tag reading "gaypwr."

the state still bans some topics on vanity plates, including references to sex, drugs and guns.
