After learning the county will be almost $1 million in the red at the end of the fiscal year, Upshur County Commissioners on Friday scheduled an emergency meeting for 9 a.m. Monday to discuss the county's cash flow.

County Judge Dean Fowler said Friday afternoon he was recently told by Auditor Janice Tucker that should the county continue on its current course, it will finish the year with a $995,000 shortfall. He intends to propose a plan Monday to cut about $250,000 throughout all departments and about $800,000 from the Road and Bridge Department for the remainder of the fiscal year.
