On Friday, May 3, the 6th Court of Appeals confirmed an Upshur County jury's verdict and sentence of Glenn Wade Meyers Jr., 56, for murder.

Meyers was convicted for shooting his sister, Cindy Espinosa with a shotgun blast to the face on July 2, 2011.

Meyers said he shot his sister when she asked for money to help repair a water well on the property they both lived on in separate homes.

After hearing a gun shot, Espinosa's daughter went outside to find her mother dead in the front yard of their home and Meyers had already left.

According to evidence, Meyers retreated into his camper and was seen by a witness running with a long black object that looked like a gun.

The murder weapon was a .410 shotgun and was later recovered hidden under boxes in front of Meyers' camper.

There was a drop of blood on Meyers' shirt that was confirmed to be Espinosa's through DNA testing.
