UPDATE: Suspicious "bomb-like" device actually broken newspaper coin collector

The bomb squad from Barksdale Air Force Base has given the all-clear on the suspicious device found in a Longview newspaper stand.

Officials say the "bomb" is actually the coin collection device from the newspaper stand itself.

Somehow, the coin collector fell off inside the news stand.

It was discovered by an IHOP patron around 7:00 am, and officials were immediately alerted.


10:10 UPDATE: Officials are sending a robot toward the news stand now.

9:45 UPDATE: The Barksdale Air Force bomb squad just arrived on scene.

Officials are now shutting down Loop 281 from Judson to McCann, and shutting down Tuttle Blvd. from Hawkins to the Loop.

9:10 UPDATE: Longview Police say the device was found around 7:00 a.m. by an IHOP patron.
Luby's restaurant has also been evacuated at this time, and the area around IHOP has been blocked off.

ORIGINAL STORY: Longview Police have discovered what they are calling a "bomb-like" device inside a newspaper stand outside the IHOP restaurant on Loop 281.
The restaurant has been evacuated, and media is being kept at a safe distance.
Experts from the Barksdale Air Force Base in Shreveport are on their way to assist the Longview Police Department.
No word yet how the device was discovered.
Details are limited at this time.
