UPDATE: Smith County fire started by person burning brush
Smith County — UPDATE: Fire officials tell KETK the blaze on CR 1108 was started by a person burning brush.
The fire is now 95 percent contained.
The roadway is still shut down.
Crews have contained the fire on County Road 185, however, several trucks will remain on site to put out hot spots.
A second fire has developed nearby on the 19,000 block of County Road 1108, according to Smith County fire officials.
The fire on 1108 has burned about 5 acres and is threatening several homes. One brush truck, water tanker and plow are on site.
Flint police officers have shut down County Road 1108.
Two brush trucks are currently working the grass fire on County Road 185.
The Texas Forest Service is on the scene of both fires.
Original Report: A small structure and around 50 bales of hay are on fire in Smith County, according to Bullard officials.
The blaze started as a grass fire, then spread to bales of hay and jumped to a small structure on the 12,200 block of County Road 182. Other structures are also in danger.
Bullard, Noonday and Flint-Greshman firefighters are on scene. A brush truck has been called in to assist crews.
