UPDATE: Longview police identify suspect in fatal hit and run

Longview, Texas — Police have identified a suspect in the hit and run that killed pedestrian Jason Johnson 20, of Longview.

Witnesses came forward and identified the suspect.

Longview Police are continuing to investigate this case. No arrests have been made at this time.

On July 28, 2012 at 12:30 a.m., Longview Police Department Sergeant Doug Brinkley noticed a man lying in a grassy field located in the 300 Block of West Cotton Street.

Officers learned the victim was walking westbound on Cotton Street when he was struck by an unknown vehicle. The vehicle fled the scene. The victim, identified as Jason Lee Johnson 20, of Longview, was transported to Good Shepherd Medical Center with life threatening injuries. Mr. Johnson died later at the hospital.

The vehicle will most likely have major damage to the right front headlight area. Longview Police are asking for anyone with information about this incident to contact Officer Brandon Thornton at 903-237-1196.
