Update: Crews recover body from East Texas lake
Pleasure Acres Lake, Smith County — Justice of the Peace Mitch Shamburger confirms crews have the recovered a body from Pleasure Acres Lake.
According Game Warden Quint Balkcom, the body was recovered at 9:26 a.m. off County Road 291.
The victim has been identified as 29-year-old Justin Thore, a homeless man.
According to the Richard and Teresa Burton, who live with their daughter, they took Thore and his girlfriend in from the streets after the couple begged for change. The family placed the homeless pair in a trailor next to their house.
Thore had just learned how to fish earlier this week and would return daily at 7pm. On Tuesday, he set out to fish, but never ruterned home from the lake.
Richard Burton tells Fox 51 Thore suffers from elipsy and his girlfriend had left him Wednesday morning.
The homeless couple had been living in the trailer for about a month and a half when the tragedy happened.
Balkcom says the body will be sent for autopsy to Dallas and results are expected in about two weeks.
According to Smith County game warden Quint Balkcom, their efforts have now switched to recovery rather than rescue.
Balkcom says the entire lake perimeter has been searched and they've exhausted efforts to locate the missing man alive. They believe he can be nowhere else but in the water.
The recovery effort began at about sun up on Wednesday, with divers from the ALERT Academy searching the lake, beginning from where the man's anchored boat was initially located.
The Smith County Sheriff's Office is also on the scene.

DPS and area game wardens have resumed their search for an East Texas man who disappeared on Pleasure Acres Lake on CR 291 in Smith County.
The 29 year old man went missing on the private lake on Tuesday afternoon after heading out to go fishing around noon, according to his roommates.
His boat was found anchored in the middle of the lake, but he was nowhere to be found. His family reported him missing at about 7:30 pm.
