UPDATE: Armed bandit threatens life of Tyler convenience store clerk

Authorities are searching for a robber that is described as a black male, about 5'9" to 6' tall, heavy build, wearing a white muscle shirt and jeans. Officials warn he is armed with a semi-automatic weapon.

Witnesses tell Tyler police the armed robber walked into the Conoco around 12:29 p.m. and demanded money, or he would kill the clerk.

After leaving the business, a customer followed the thief for a short time, but lost him near the intersection of Parkdale and Garden Valley.

Police continue to search for the gunman. He is believed to be driving a mid-size green 4-door car with a spoiler.

It happened at the Conoco station near the intersection of West Gentry and Van Highway.

Authorities are currently searching for a small green car that may have been involved.
