WHITE OAK — FRIDAY UPDATE: Fox 51 has learned the identitiies of the people involved in the fatal crash in White Oak on Thursday.
Officials with the White Oak Police Department tell us, the people killed in the crash were 45 year old Brent Eric Young and 7 month old Kennedi Burks, both of Gladewater. They were passengers in a sedan that was rear-ended by a pickup truck on Highway 80. The driver of the sedan was 45 year old Mary Nicole Young. Mrs. Young survived the crash.
The driver of the pickup also survived. He is 24 year old Jared Tuel of White Oak.
After the sedan was hit, it slid into oncoming traffic, and was struck by another vehicle, a Chevy Tahoe, driven by 65 year old Patsy Ann Harrell of White Oak. Harrell survived the crash.
No word yet if there will be any citations given in the accident.
A baby is in critical condition and a man has died after a wreck on Highway 80 at Hollingsworth, according to the White Oak Police Department.
It happened just before noon on Thursday. White Oak police, along with the fire department and Champion EMS, responded to reports of a major accident on Highway 80.
Once crews arrived on the scene, they were able to determine that a 2007 Chrysler sedan was stopped in the westbound lane and was waiting for traffic to clear in order to turn left when it was struck in the rear by a 2012 Dodge pickup. The impact forced the Chrysler sedan into oncoming traffic, where it was struck again by a 2010 Chevrolet SUV that was traveling eastbound.
A 2005 Chevrolet SUV swerved to avoid the wreck and lost control, rolling over and landing in the parking lot of a nearby business.
All three occupants of the Chrysler sedan were taken to Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview. One occupant, a 44-year-old man, died from his injuries, and an 8-month-old child is listed in critical condition.
The driver of the 2010 Chevrolet SUV was also taken to Good Shepherd. The occupants of the 2005 SUV received minor injuries and were treated at the scene. The driver of the Dodge pickup was not injured.
