Tyler: Robert E. Lee School on lockdown temporarily

Update: 3:20 p.m. - Tyler I.S.D. officials tell KETK that the incident began when a student at Robert E. Lee reported some stolen items to the school's Crimestoppers organization. When the accussed thief was approached by authorities, he dropped his bag and ran out of the school and into a nearby park. A handgun was found in the student's bag, and the school was placed on lockdown.

Reportedly, the student has not yet been found. There are no reported injuries at the school

Update: 2:48 p.m. - Robert E. Lee is no longer on lockdown. KETK will bring you more information as we get it in.

Update: 2:38 p.m. - Students tell The Breeze that an annoucement has been made regarding the lockdown. Reportedly, a gun was found in a students backpack. The student ran away from the school, but Tyler Police have placed the school on lockdown until the student has been caught or is at least one mile away.

Update: 2:21 p.m. - Our radio partners 95.3/102.3 The Breeze are getting comments from Robert E. Lee students via Facebook about the lockdown.

Students report that no alarms have gone off and no faculty is speaking about the situation.

2:28 p.m.: Robert E. Lee is on lockdown because of a reported threat in the area.
