Monday, April 23, 2012 - 11:19am

Tyler police officers are searching for the gunman responsible in a W. Gentry Parkway shooting. On Monday, April 23rd, 2012 at 2:06 A.M., the Tyler Police Department was notified by a local hospital that a victim was just brought in with a gunshot wound.  Officers arrived at the hospital and the victim, an 18 year old black male identified as Kertral Damon Murphy, stated he was shot somewhere on W. Gentry Parkway.

Family members at the hospital however, indicated that Murphy was at a party somewhere in the area around W. Erwin and Glenwood prior to the shooting. Officers searched both areas for evidence and any witnesses but failed to locate any leads. Officers also learned from the Hospital that Murphy was brought to the hospital by an unknown black male driving possibly a tan or gold colored vehicle with tinted windows and that this subject left the hospital after Murphy exited the vehicle.

Murphy was shot one time in the lower back and is currently in surgery for  what is believed to be a non-life threatening injury.  The Tyler Police Department is currently still investigating the shooting and seeking any information regarding the location of the shooting and the identity of the person who dropped off the victim at the hospital.

Anyone with information about the suspects involved in this crime are urged to contact the Tyler Police Department, at 903-531-1000, or Crimestoppers, at 903-597-CUFF  (903-597-2833).  Crimestoppers will pay up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest and charges filed against the suspects in this case, or any, felony case.
