***NEWS RELEASE***

At approximately 1:30 A.M. today an individual identified as Michael Lee Hail, 52 years of age, of Baton Rogue, LA and formally of Nacogdoches County, TX drove to a private residence located in the 4600 block of State Highway 21 West and fired several rounds from a 12 gage shotgun into the residence. A woman that had been a co-worker of Hail's and her 3 year old son where present in the residence at the time. The homeowner had heard her dog barking and looked out a window in time to observe Hail exiting his vehicle with a shotgun. She immediately retrieved her telephone, dialed 9-1-1 and then hid her son and herself in a closet as Hail shot into her residence. The dispatcher at the Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office that took that 9-1-1 call was able to hear gunshots being fired at the time the call was taken. Mr. Hail then fled the scene prior to deputies arrival.

It was uncertain why Hail elected to try and harm our victim; although, approximately one month ago the victim in this case had filed a complaint of harassment with the Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office against Hail. This morning, our investigation revealed that Hail had possibly driven to Tyler, TX where his ex-wife was living. Investigators from the Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office made unsuccessful attempts to contact Hail's ex-wife prior to learning that Hail had arrived in Tyler, contacted his ex-wife and then shot at her also.

At this time, Hail's whereabouts are unknown. He was last seen driving a 2010 Charcoal Grey Ford F-150 4-door Pick-up bearing TX License # AP 70782. Given his current state of mind following these two shooting incidents, Hail could pose a potential threat to anyone he comes in contact with. I have included a photograph of Hail with this news release. We ask that anyone that may see and recognize Mr. Hail not attempt to contact him directly, but immediately contact local law enforcement. At this time, Hail is wanted on charges of Deadly Conduct, Endangering a Child and Aggravated Assault.
