On Tuesday at approximately 2:47 a.m., the Tyler Police Department responded to 900 W. Front St. (Pitt-Stop Exxon) in reference to a Burglary Alarm.

As officers neared the scene they observed a black male, later identified as 51-year-old Cedric Stewart leaving the area of the gas station carrying electronics equipment. As officers attempted to contact Mr. Stewart he immediately began to flee.

A short foot pursuit and search of a residential area lead officers to discover Mr. Stewart in a residence near the intersection of Hendon St. and S. Glenwood Blvd. Mr. Stewart matched the exact description of the individual burglarizing the business and the person that moments earlier fled from officers.

The electronics equipment found in Mr. Stewart’s possession was also identified as the property taken from the business. Mr. Stewart was positively identified and arrested for burglary of a building.
