Tyler officers promoted

TYLER, TX - Please join us on Monday, April 25, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at the Tyler Police Department, to witness Chief Gary Swindle promote Sgt. Rusty Jacks to Lieutenant and Detective Adam Tarrant to Sergeant.
Rusty Jacks was hired by the Tyler Police Department on August 9, 1993. He attended the East Texas Police Academy and was the Top Gun of the class. Rusty was assigned to the first Bicycle Patrol Unit in 1994 and assigned to SWAT in 1995. He is currently the SWAT team commander. He was assigned as a Youth Crimes Investigator in 1998.
Rusty was promoted to Sergeant on September 6, 2001 and was over Patrol from 2001 to 2002, Bicycle Patrol from 2002 to 2003, Training Coordinator from 2003 to 2008 and was assigned as the Major Crimes Supervisor from 2008 to the present.
Rusty received the Medal of Valor in 2003 and 2005 and the Meritorious Conduct Award in 1995 and 2003. He has also received the Civic Achievement Award, Distinguished Expert Bar and 5 year safe driving bar. He currently holds an Advanced and Master Peace Officer Certificate.
Adam Tarrant was hired by the Tyler Police Department on July 9, 2001. He was a patrol officer from 2002 to 2006. He was a member of the Honor Guard for 6 years and a former Field Training Officer. Adam was an Investigator in the Crimes Against Persons Unit from 2006 to 2009 and is a Certified Forensic Hypnotist. He was the Criminal Intelligence Officer from 2006 to 2009 and is currently assigned to the Special Investigations Unit.
Adam has received the Rookie of the Year Award, Meritorious Conduct Award, Plain Clothes Officer of the Year Award, Sharp Shooter Award and the 3 Year Perfect Attendance Award. He currently holds an Advanced Peace Officer's Certificate.
