Tyler homes, businesses vandalized with spray paint overnight

Thursday, October 11, 2012 - 11:10am

Several homes and businesses on the south side of Tyler were tagged by vandals overnight with spray paint.

According to the Tyler Police Department's Public Information Officer Don Martin, "significant" damage was done to buildings, mailboxes and vehicles near SSW Loop 323 on Brookside Drive, Shelley Drive and Woodland Hills Drive, as well as a few businesses on the Loop.

Authorities do not have any persons of interest, but suspect the destruction was caused by kids. Most homeowners and business owners were able to remove the orange paint, however, some people have not been able to remove it from their brick mailbox.

Martin tells KETK investigators will compound the crimes into one charge, which will either be tagging or criminal mischief.

Detectives could not pin down a specific pattern to the tagging, including gang symbols.

Please contact your local authorities if you have any information on this case.
