Tyler doctor disciplined for issuing unlicensed prescriptions

TYLER — The Texas State Medical Board found that Dr. R. Anton Lester III, D.O., of Tyler, operated an unlicensed pharmacy, prescribed dangerous drugs or controlled substances without first establishing a proper professional relationship with the patient, failure to adequately supervise physician extenders and distributing drugs to a patient for a fee.

On February 10, 2012, the Board and R. Anton Lester III, D.O., of Tyler, entered into an Agreed Order requiring Dr. Lester to pass within one year and within three attempts the Medical Jurisprudence Exam, complete within one year 10 hours of CME in risk management and pay an administrative penalty of $2,000 within 60 days.
