TX high school employee killed in school parking lot, estranged husband in standoff with police

According to the Katy Independent School District, an employee was shot and killed, Friday morning, in one of the high school parking lots.

School officials say the estranged husband of a cafeteria worker shot his wife in the back parking lot of Obra D. Tompkins High School before 6:11 a.m.

The Houston Chronicle reports when deputies arrived at the school they found two coaches performing CPR on the school employee.

The shooting was fatal and school started this morning as usual and the campus is not on lockdown.

Parents are allowed to pick up their student if they feel they need to.

Currently, Katy ISD Police Department is working with the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Department and the suspect is barricaded at his home in Brookshire.
