TISD officials say reports of gun at Robert E. Lee campus are inaccurate
TYLER — Tyler ISD has released the following statement:
Early this morning, Robert E. Lee administrators learned of a Facebook posting warning that a gun may be brought on campus. They contacted district officials, who immediately provided increased security on the campus and began investigating the situation. At this time, the claims have not been substantiated. Officials will continue to investigate this matter and will have increased security on campus throughout the day.
Tyler ISD officials tell KETK, students have been spreading a rumor that there has been a shooting on the Robert E. Lee campus.
Officials with the school ensure that no student is in danger, and the reports of a shooting are all false.
Tyler ISD will release a statement shortly.
It is unclear at this time how the rumor began, or if it had anything to do with the recent tragedy at an Ohio high school.
