Three men arrested after dart attack in Tyler

TYLER  — On Monday, January 30, 2012 at approximately 8:50 p.m. officers responded to Wal-Mart located at 5050 Troup Hwy, Tyler, Smith County, Texas, in reference to an Aggravated Assault.

Upon arrival officers contacted two females that advised that they were shot with darts while in the parking lot of Wal-Mart in two separate incidents that had just occurred.

Both subjects advised that they were struck with a dart that penetrated their skin and stuck in them approximately 1 inch, while they were standing in the parking lot.

One victim was hit in the leg and one victim was hit in the arm, just missing her face. Both subjects described the suspect vehicle as a red Chevy pickup truck containing several male subjects.

Witnesses followed the suspect vehicle until officers were able to catch up to them. The suspects were stopped in the Dairy Queen parking lot at 12050 State Hwy 64 East.

Three subjects were taken into custody and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon for each victim. A blow dart gun and darts were recovered in the vehicle.

The suspects were identified as Matthew Arnold, w/m, 18 years old, Kasey McClendon, b/m, 17 years old, and Gregory Smith, w/m, 17 years old.

The victims were treated by EMS and released at the scene.
