SUV crashes into Longview church; multiple people hospitalized

Multiple people, including the driver of the SUV, were taken to a local hospital. The driver was taken by ambulance, while several children were taken by private vehicle. At least four children were checked at the scene by emergency crews.

Officials tell KETK they had to use the "Jaws of Life" to remove the driver, a male in his 20s, from the SUV.

The children and teacher, along with 30 other kids, were inside the church for a Parent's Day Out at the time of the crash. The extent of their injuries are unknown at this time.

According to the Longview Police Department, the SUV went through a fence near the intersection of Elmira Drive and Spring Hill road, then cut across a field and hit the back of the church.

A utility pole was also knocked down during the wreck. Two homes will be without power until late tonight, according to SWEPCO.

Officials have not yet determined the cause of the accident.

Original Report: A vehicle has crashed into the Spring Hill First Baptist Church in Longview.

It happened around noon in the 4000 block of Gilmer Road near Spring Hill Road.

Injuries are unknown at this time.
