A man turned himself in Monday to the Anderson County Sheriff's Office for a murder that happened back in 2012.

Raquel Marquez turned himself in on a warrant after officials learned he had left the Palestine area and may have gone to Mexico.

On Sunday, September 12, 2012, the Palestine Police Department responded to a fight in the 900 block of North Howard Street. When officers arrived on scene, they learned Jason Villanueva had been stabbed. He was taken to a local hospital, where he later died as a result of his injuries.

Authorities took two people into custody shortly after the incident and a third person was arrested several days later.

The investigation is ongoing. Items collected at the scene are being tested at the crime lab. When the tests are completed, the case will be turned over to the Anderson County District Attorney for the grand jury.

Marquez is being held at the Anderson County Jail on $250,000 bond.
