TYLER - The countdown is on until the biggest shopping day of the year Black Friday, but this year there's a new trend. Some store owners are actually opening their doors on Thursday, Thanksgiving day.
Several stores have started to stretch out the savings, but many retailers are concerned about how big of an impact the economy will have on Black Friday this year, and that's why some are spreading Black Friday to Thursday.
Sears for example, will be open on Thanksgiving Thursday for the first time in the company's 124 year history. Toys "R" Us is also jumping on board.
While some stores like Best Buy may be closed on Thanksgiving, other stores like Target are doing online specials to entice shoppers. Despite the economy, many retailers say they believe this year could be a good year for both shoppers and retailers.
