TYLER - Smith County sources tell KETK that after a heated closed office debate last Friday between Smith County District Attorney Matt Bingham and his assistant Joe Murphy, Murphy was asked to either resign or be terminated from his position. Bingham, only releasing this statement to the media Monday, "I'm not going to discuss any personnel issues at this time." But sources close to Murphy say his wife, Casey Murphy, recently named business editor for the Tyler Paper, and he will be relocating to Kerrville, Texas soon. Still no word yet on how this will affect Murphy's recent cases.
