Smith County Sheriff says he will "Not enforce any acts that are unconstitutional"

Thursday, January 17, 2013 - 11:11am

TYLER,TX (KFXK) — In response to President Obama's announcement Wednesday morning regarding his proposals to curb gun violence in America, KETK gathered some local reactions from East Texans.

Smith County Sheriff, Larry Smith says, "Me or my office here will not enforce any unconstitutional act against the citizens of this county.

Then end, period!... The 10th amendment, all those laws 'not given to the Federal government are maintained by the state'. The constitution seems like it's just going out the window."

May law enforcement officials across the county are threatening to do the same. Many people believe part of President Obama's proposals were an attack on the second amendment and will not follow his proposals if they are in fact passed by congress.
