Lufkin, Texas —
Two days after leading a “Silence the Violence” rally, a Lufkin man was arrested on a charge of injury to a child.
Kahil Smith, 26, is accused of getting too rough with his 4-year-old son while disciplining him March 28. According to a Lufkin Police complaint, Smith’s wife called police to say that when her husband was spanking their son, he hit him in the ear with a belt, causing it to swell. As the officer dispatched to their apartment on Tulane Drive took photos of the boy’s ear, Smith’s wife also showed the officer a small scratch on the boy’s arm and another on his chest.
