Shots fired in Tyler

On May 18, 2012 at approximately 1:37 a.m. officers with the Tyler Police Department responded to the intersection of W. 28th St. and N. Border Ave. in reference to gun shots

. As officers neared the area they were told someone was shot at while outside a house within the 600 block of W. 28th St. 

Officers contacted the victim who stated he was sitting in the passenger seat of his uncle's car when an unknown black male opened the driver's side door and sat down. 

Realizing the suspect was not his uncle the two exchanged words before the suspect exited the vehicle and began walking eastbound on W. 28th St. 

As the stranger was walking away the victim attempted to stop him, but the suspect immediately turned around and began shooting at him. 

The victim did not sustain any injures during the incident and described the suspect as a slender black male about 25-30 years of age, 5'7" to 6'0" tall, between 150 - 180 pounds wearing a black shirt and black sweat pants with short hair. 

Officers searched the area, but were unable to locate anyone. 

The scene was processed for evidence and the case remains open for further investigation. A

nyone with information about the suspect involved in this crime are urged to contact the Tyler Police Department, at 903-531-1000, or Crimestoppers, at 903-597-CUFF (903-597-2833).  Crimestoppers will pay up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest and charges filed against the suspect in this case, or any, felony case.
