Shoplifter pulls knife on, bites Longview mall employee

A man was arrested on Tuesday after allegedly pulling a knife on a Longview mall employee.

It happened at the Sears store at the mall on 3500 McCann Rd. in Longview, just after 7:00pm on Tuesday.

Police tell Fox 51 , the loss prevention employee noticed Rodney Leandre Webb, 44, of Longview, shoplifting from the store.

When the employee attempted to stop Webb, he pulled a knife out of his pocket and displayed it to the employee.

The employee knocked the knife out of Webb's hand and the two began to struggle. During the brief struggle, Webb bit the employee in an attempt to get away.

Eventually, the store's employees were able to subdue Webb until officers arrived.

Webb was arrested for aggravated robbery, as well as two outstanding warrants for engaging in organized criminal activity and possession of drug paraphernalia.

After he was taken into custody, Webb claimed that he had been injured during the fight, and was taken to a Longview hospital for evaluation before being booked into the Gregg County jail.
