Second suspect arrested in Tyler robbery, third still on the loose
Tyler, Tx (Fox 51) — The Tyler Police Department has arrested a second person in connection with a robbery that happened last week.
On Tuesday, Darryl Earl Daniels Jr., 23, of Tyler, surrendered to authorities on a charge of engaging in organized criminal activity. His charge stems from a convenience story heist back on the morning of January 16. Daniels was booked into Smith County Jail on a $100,000 bail.
Shortly before 5 a.m., on January 16, two armed men with ski masks approached the clerk, who was outside smoking, and demanded money from the Food Fast store register, located in the 4200 block of University Blvd. A customer entered the business during the robbery, and the suspects ran from the back of the store when police were called.
Authorities were able to locate one alleged robber, Jaqun Jamel Dawson, 17, of Dallas, in a nearby wooded area with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his leg. He was hospitalized following his capture.
Police are still seeking the whereabouts of Ashad Rael Coats, 19, of Tyler. This case is remains under investigation.
