Second jailer arrested in death of Gregg County inmate

LONGVIEW, TX --- The name of the second jailer arrested in connection to the death of a Gregg County inmate has been released.

Brian West, 30, of White Oak was arrested and charged with tampering with government records.

West was one of five jailers fired in connection with the death of 33-year-old Ann Cowling.

Sheriff Maxey Cerliano says the case is still under investigation and did not rule out more arrests or charges.

LONGVIEW, TX --- A second jailer has been arrested in the death of a Gregg County inmate.

Gregg County Sheriff Maxey Cerliano says a second person is currently being booked and arraigned into Gregg County jail after the death of 33-year-old Ann Cowling.

The name and charge have not been released at this time.

Tomeka Cross was arrested and charged Friday with tampering with a government document.
