Veterans, city officials and citizens stood and recited the Pledge of Allegiance to the U.S. Flag in the atrium of Lufkin City Hall Tuesday evening.
Mayor Jack Gorden welcomed the crowd, saying “The city of Lufkin is so proud to be able to put this on.”
After the posting of the colors by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1836, Gorden spoke about the history and significance of Flag Day.
The group Narrow Road performed patriotic songs, including “God Bless America,” for which much of the crowd rose and joined in singing.
