Salt tank explosion in Liberty City

LIBERTY CITY — Three salt water tankers caught fire this morning after a lightning strike during severe weather.

Fire officials tell KETK, one tanker was struck by lightning and caught fire at Sabine Disposal on FM 2207. The fire then spread to two other tankers.

It happened around 9 a.m.

The fire has since been put out by the Kilgore fire Department.



A KFXK photographer reports at least one salt water tank exploded Monday morning in Liberty City near Kilgore.

Kilgore firefighters are on the scene and have put out the fire.

The incident happened at Sabine Disposal on FM 2207.
