Rusk County officials arrested 3 for March aggravated robbery

RUSK COUNTY — The Rusk County Sheriff’s Office Investigators obtained arrest warrants for three suspects in connection to an aggravated robbery which occurred in the early morning hours of March 24, 2012. The incident occurred at a church parking lot on County Road 263, in Rusk County. The suspects Victor Paul Jones, 35, and wife Courtney Gail Jones, 34, both of Henderson, and Richard Raymond Jones, 34, of Hallsville, surrendered themselves to authorities Monday, April 16, 2012. Justice of the Peace, Precinct 5, Joe Sorrells charged all three suspects with Aggravated Robbery, Felony of the first degree, each bond set at $15,000.

On March 24, 2012, at approximately 12:30 pm, Deputy Ben Reynolds was dispatched to a local hospital where the victim was being treated for injuries sustained due to the assault. Deputy Reynolds was advised by the victim that earlier that morning suspect Courtney Jones drove to his place of employment and picked him up. He stated sometime later Courtney pulled over at a church on County Road 263. The victim said he noticed another vehicle parked at the church as they drove up. As Courtney’s vehicle come to a stop the passenger door opened and he was forcefully removed from the vehicle by who he identified as suspects Victor and Richard Jones. That’s when the victim stated the assault began and both suspects were striking him with their hands and feet. During the assault the victim was struck several times with what he described to be a baseball bat. He stated due to his injuries he was knocked to the ground and unable to get up. As the assault ended the suspects took his cell phone and left him on the ground.

Once all three suspects left the scene the victim was able to retrieve help from a nearby residence. The victim sustained multiple fractures, lacerations and bruising due to the assault.
