HENDERSON — Law enforcement officers — living and deceased — were honored Thursday morning at a ceremony on the Rusk County Courthouse lawn.
The seventh annual Rusk County ceremony commemorating National Law Enforcement Memorial Day paid tribute to the sacrifices police officers and other first responders make for the safety of the population.
“To truly ‘protect and serve,’ as law enforcement officers are sworn to do, takes courage, dedication and sacrifice,” said Donald Ross, retired justice of the 6th Court of Appeals, who served as a district attorney and district judge in Rusk County during the 1970s, 80s and 90s.
