Run for The Wall riders stop in Longview on annual trip to capital

People enthusiatically cheered as they heard the thunder roll past. They held their American flags high and waved at the rolling parade of steel horses.

About 600 riders with the 23rd annual Run for The Wall veteran motorcycle ride stopped for lunch Sunday at VFW Post 4002 in Longview and were met by about 150 flag-waving supporters.

Since 1989, a cavalcade of U.S. veterans start their journey in Cucamonga, Calif., about 10 days before Memorial Day weekend. One group takes a Southern route and the other a central route to end their journey on Memorial Day at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington.
