Kilgore — A routine traffic stop leads deputies to an illegal stash of prescription pills.

At around 12:45 a.m. this morning, Rusk County deputies made a traffic stop on County Road 172 in Kilgore. The driver, 35-year old Gerald Hosea Gibson, of Kilgore, was pulled over for failing to signal a turn.

During the stop, officials discovered Gibson was driving with an invalid license and no insurance. Dispatchers also informed the deputy on scene that Gibson had an outstanding warrant. Gibson was arrested for the active warrant.

While searching Gibson's vehicle, authorities found a prescription bottle with no label, containing 29 hydrocodone pills. His vehicle was impounded to a local wrecking yard, and Gibson was charged with possession of controlled substance.

Gibson was taken to the Rusk County Justice Center and is charged with possession of controlled substance. His bond is set at $10,000.
