A Reklaw woman died earlier this month after jumping from a moving ambulance in Jacksonville.

Back on August 9, shortly after 11 p.m., police responded to reports of a woman jumping out of the back of an ambulance.

It happened on Highway 69 North about a quarter of a mile south of Loop 456 in Jacksonville.

According to a Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, Crystal Chevell Deluane, 36, of Reklaw, was being taken to a local hospital after her family reported erratic behavior.

During the ride, Deluane tried to leave the ambulance, and was restrained on her stretcher, but five minutes later, she unsnapped her restraints, unlocked the back of the ambulance and jumped out, hitting her head on the roadway.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.
