The National Weather Service in Shreveport has issued a dense smoke advisory which is in effect until 9 pm CDT this evening.
* Large fires are burning across East Texas which are located east of avinger in Cass and northern Marion counties, near Diana in Upshur County, near the Angelina River in western Nacogdoches County and west of Kilgore in Gregg
County. They are all causing large smoke plumes which are blowing in a general southerly direction, reducing visibility
and air quality.
* Visibility will be reduced to 2 miles or less in many locations in the direct path of these smoke plumes. In addition, air quality will be degraded across the region for those that become exposed to it.
A dense smoke advisory means widespread fires will create smoke limiting visibility. If driving, slow down, use your
headlights and leave plenty of distance ahead of you in case a sudden stop is needed.
