Passing trade skills to future generations motivated four local small businesses to apply for grants through Chase National Bank’s Mission: Small Business program.

Glass Castles Stained and Etched Glass has built and repaired glass windows for churches, houses and businesses in Nacogdoches for 31 years, but owners David and Teresa Darby would like to train others in the art of glass making.

Similarly, The French Knot has been training children over the age of 6 in sewing and fashion design.

Paul J. Kelly and Sweet Treats Bakery joined the competition for the grants last week.

Small businesses across the nation qualify to be considered for $250,000 grants through Chase National Bank by getting votes through www.missionsmallbusiness.com.
