Mt. Pleasant, TExas (FOX 51) — The Mount Pleasant Police Department is investigating a Tuesday afternoon call where a person stated they had just murdered two people.
Around 1:00 p.m., 911 dispatchers received a call from an unknown person who claimed to have killed two people. The caller made the statement twice and hung up, according to Director of Community Services Jacob K. Hatfield.
Authorities contacted the cellphone company used and pinged the phone, which returned a frequency on the north side of town. The area is being searched at this time, but there have been no reports of gunfire or suspicious activity.
City of Mt. Pleasant Police Chief Wayne said detectives are working to determine if the call was true or a hoax.
