Tyler, Texas (FOX51) — Cheerleading squads at Tyler ISD’s Moore MST Magnet School do more than just rally the sports teams to victory. This week, they rallied the entire campus to help win the fight against cancer. The campus raised a total of $1029.50 for cancer research and the cheerleaders presented checks to St. Jude Children’s Hospital and the Susan G. Komen Foundation for $514.75 each at Moore’s football game on Tuesday, October 22.
The cheerleaders encouraged their peers and teachers to make a donation in any amount throughout the month and to wear pink on October 1 and October 22. A Pink Pepto Rally was held on Tuesday to wrap-up the donation drive.
“Our students are a great role model to all of us in the area of giving,” said Claude Lane, Principal at Moore. “This is only one example of how our Moore Mustangs step up and give back to our community to help improve the life of someone in need. Our campus couldn’t be more proud of the character they have displayed.”
